Enhancement of Existing Fertilizer Export Facility

River Consulting was contracted to enhance the operation of the multi-grade potash terminal. Prior to design, the project team performed an existing facility audit and a dock and bridge analysis.

Conceptual through final design engineering was provided for the project and included, a new receiving and loadout facility, a dust collection system, an extensive washdown system, rail car unloading, portal reclaimers and a shiploader.

As part of the upgrade, the entire facility control system was re-programmed for supervision/operator interface, enhanced alarming, and troubleshooting. Additionally, the entire reclaimer system was re-programmed. The re-programming of the control system and reclaimer system allowed for reduced downtime and limited the amount of human interaction required.

The six million ton per year capacity facility now features a 3,000 mpth rail receiving system; 100,000 mt capacity storage building; and a 4,000 mtph ship loading system.
