Owner's Engineer and Construction Managemet Services for New Open Pit Gold Mine

River Consulting provided project controls, cost control, construction management, start-up and commissioning services for the open pit mine and heap leach facility designed to recover and process 3.65 million tons of crushed ore a year. Six distinctive areas were part of the project scope including mine infrastructure, a crushing and screening system, conveying systems, agglomeration, leach pads and a process plant along with all the electrical and instrumentation installations necessary for the complete operation of each area.

Additionally, as part of the complete facility design, River Consulting oversaw the installation of the medium and low voltage power distribution system. The consisted of construction and a new substation and included equipment and elements for termination and connection of the electrical motors. New MCC's, transformers, switch gears, lighting fixtures, field control devices and lighting and ground systems were also laid out and installed as part of the project scope.


  • Civil work, access roads and paving
  • Water supply system including well, water line, pumping and clarification station, intermediate tanks and pumps
  • Primary crushing system including concrete receiving pit, crush leach bin, vibrating grizzly, and a jaw crusher
  • Secondary crushing system including surge bin, apron feeders, vibrating screeners, secondary cone crushers, conveying systems, and radial stacker
  • 2.5 KM of a 54 inch overland conveyor system from the secondary crusher to the agglomeration drum
  • Reclaim system with a leach grade stockpile
  • Agglomeration drum transfer system with grasshopper conveyors and stacker
  • Processing plant systems including carbon columns, carbon safety screens and bins, quench tank, acid mix and wash tanks, pressure stripping columns and heating, stainless steel cathodes, a pressure wash system and filters, a dryer and an induction furnace
  • Pregnant solution and recycle solution ponds, and associated pipe distribution system and spraying system
  • Two neutralization tanks and an excess solution pond
  • All associated electrical and instrumentation
  • Maintenance shop and warehouse buildings
